High School dropouts and completed youths:

  1. Unable to continue their education

The boys and youths 660 are dropped and 270 girls and youths are dropped in SSLC, due to their family economical status. The parents due to ignorance about the vocational training they are also not interested to send their children for higher studies.

  1. No opportunities to learn vocational skills for their livelihood

The Vocational skills for youths in the target community of 16 village’s doesn’t have vocational skills training centre. Those who are failed SSLC or PUC candidates to get skill training are dream for them. The govt. polytechnic courses in Chintamani have one. Those who are passed above 80 percent of obtain the marks for them will get the seats through influence. Two private ITI institutions have in Chintamani. But donation and fees the target youths not able to fulfill and the youths have poor skill and knowledge on vocational training for getting employment.

3. Employed as unskilled workers

The boys and girls after competing secondary education are in unskilled workers. They don’t have opportunities for skill training at Chintamani. Employed as unskilled workers.

  1. Very low wages

Due to unskilled the boys and girls are getting low wages and most of agricultural and casual work. 85% of target community is youths earn Rs.80/- per day girls earns Rs. 60% per day. Rest is simply idle at home.

  1. Irregular income

The community has 120 days 150 days of agricultural and casual work. Few women running a petty business at their door step which also fetch very low income.

  1. Vulnerable to anti social activities.

The youths are after drop outs or discontinuing the secondary education. They are vulnerable to antisocial activities like preparation of local liquor, gambling, etc.

Rural men and women with conventional skills:

  • Conventional skills are not upgraded

Some are making plastic flower, basket and pot making, for their livelihood which fetch very low income.

  • Lack knowledge of new trends

The community people don’t have knowledge on new trends or new innovative approach, in production of new things and also in marketing

  • Lack of innovative approach

The men and women are following old type of products basket, pot, and floriculture

  • Low income

There fore the target community get low income from their products and also at times find difficult for regular marketing.

Activities:

  • Able to continue their education

Eligible youths will be identified and enrolled in various institutions according to their ability and feasibility.

  • Opportunities to learn vocational skills for their livelihood enhanced

MANUSH will start a vocational training centre and provide formal and nonformal job oriented courses for the youth in the target area.

  • Employed as skilled workers
  • MANUSH will organize placement for the trainees after the training.
  • Conduct employer : Manush will organize every 3 months once employee meetings
  • Follow up their needs: Manush will maintain relationship with the employer and meet them every month.
  • Nominal wages ensured

Manush will negotiate with the employer for the proper salary and also introduce savings among the beneficiaries

  • Regular income ensured

Manush will follow the needy cases and advocate about the minimum wages and labour rights.

  • Social secured

Manush will organize periodical meeting, visit to the working place, organize in- service training and conduct training on Life skills.

  • Conventional skills are upgraded

Manush will identify local conventional skills and upgrade the skills to enhance their skill and income

  • Knowledge of new trends improved

Manush will conduct short course for new trends, conduct exhibition and organize exposure visit

  • Innovative approach commenced

Manush will introduce new marketing techniques and provide support for marketing.

  • Nominal Income ensured

Manush will provide training on costing skills and provide technical support to fix the price.

The target villages selected are remote where poverty stricken people live in overwhelming number. We continue to work in all the target villages for the past six years. Due to the strategic approach in our initiatives, we need to work for sustainability of the target community.
